Obituary

Mr. Alphonso Frison, affectionately known as "Al," 92, passed away October 16, 2021.  A Jacksonville, Florida native and resident, he attended the local schools, graduating from Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1946. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. Furthering his education, he studied Music at Manhattan School of Music as well as Florida Junior College and Jacksonville University. He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Clerk, where he rendered over 35 years of dedicated service before retiring.  Al loved music and a variety of sports.  He was self-employed as an Electrician, Carpenter and Painter. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ as a hobby.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Mrs. Ella Gamble Frieson; two brothers, Willie James Frison and Samuel Frison, Sr. and sister, Esther McKelvie.  He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, La Rahn Waldon (Ben) and De Havillan Coats; nephew, Samuel Frison, Jr.; five grandchildren, Leslie Waldon, Natalie Hutchins, Faith Jones, Teri Murphy and Kauvaris Frison; seventeen great grandchildren; devoted companion, Barbara Williams.  Other affiliations include being a member of St. Paul AME Church, Bishop Marvin C. Zanders, II, Pastor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Community Hospice Center for Caring at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside
