Obituary

Alton Dewayne "Wayne" Brown was born on November 17, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James O. Brown and Johnnie M. Pugh. He was the second oldest of four children. He graduated from Northwestern Junior High School in 1970 where he was a member of the Orchestra Band performing in many concerts. He took part in the recording of the bands first album. He also graduated from William M. Raines Senior High School in 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Wayne was a faithful member of The Sanctuary at Mount Calvary for many years where he was an active member of the Church Usher Board and The Mighty Men of the Mount. He started his career at Sears Warehouse right after high school as an Order Puller. He also had a career with the Jacksonville Port Authority where he transported automobiles on and off the ships. In 1997 due to health reason, he was able to retire. He was always ready for a good meal and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed card games and was hard to beat. He had a special gift to make everyone laugh and no one was a stranger after being around him. His smile will be missed by us all.
On April 3, 2021 Wayne was taken away from his family and friends too soon but he leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving daughter Aneesah Jones-Brown; granddaughter Jordyn Jones; brothers, Lawrence Rahim(Arlinda) and Randal Brown; sister, Susan Brown-Taylor(Gerard); nephews, Stacy Rahim(Timmeka), Irin Rahim (Seleta), Christopher Taylor(Christie) and Ryan Taylor(Ashley); nieces, Jessica Taylor, Martina Moore and Katherine Taylor; a number of other relatives and friends.
