Annie Mae
Alexander Williams
April 24, 2026
Annie Mae Alexander-Williams was a baby when the family moved from Jefferson County to Greenville, Florida. She was born in Jefferson County on Sunday, January 18, 1925 to Hays and Hattie Alexander. Mama graduated from High School in Greenville, FL, where she loved playing basketball. She then spent some time at Florida A&M College. She married our Daddy (Ditty) on January 2, 1946. Robert Williams Sr. preceded her in death on August 19, 1977. They had a total of three children, Robert Williams Jr. (Brenda), Judy Williams-Brown (Henry), and Asa Williams. Mama spent her early marriage years as a housewife taking care of her children. Once her children got of age, she obtained a job at the Duval County School Board (DCSB), learned how to drive, then bought herself a car. She worked for over 20 years with the DCSB.
Our Mom was amazing! She not only raised her three children, but she assisted nurturing her Grandchildren. She kept Traci as needed, she was on the court playing basketball with Corey and Robert III and she made sure Shantell and Asia got some country life in Greenville. She even gave inspiration to her Great-Grandchildren by showing them how limber she was, Morgan, Robert IV, Ki'Mari, Dalyn, Sean and Michelle took note. But Dilan, Jaise and Denim took on mimicking her every move.
Annie Mae was a strong member of her church, St Paul AME. At one time she was the lead of the Ushers, she was a class leader, always at Sunday school and a member of other church organizations. Our Mama Loved St. Paul AME and the members. She was overjoyed when she attended the church for her 100th Birthday Celebration.
Magnolia Gardens , our home neighborhood, where our Mama ended up being the Queen of the Gardens. During the Magnolia Garden Block Party Reunion, she allowed the committee to use her driveway to feed the hundreds of people in attendance. She was always there to support folks in the neighborhood.
Our Mama trusted her life to God, and she believed in Love and helping others. Most importantly, she believed in Family. Her family was deep in her heart…She was the last of her immediate family to transition. She followed her mother and father Hays and Hattie Alexander Sr., brothers and sisters; Asa Alexander, Hays (Beau Boy) Alexander Jr. (Esther), Catherine Hicks (Harold), Edith Francis Williamson, Willie – their brother- was still born, and Alease Clemons (Simp). She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and many acquaintances.
Annie Mae Alexander-Williams transitioned on April 24, 2026 at 10:13AM to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
