Obituary

Mr. Anthony Tyrone Jones, affectionately known as "Tony", age 56, was born on August 30, 1969, to the late Mrs. Ella Jones Lang in Jackson, Mississippi.

Anthony was a fighter.  All his life, he fought, survived and was a testament of strength and love.  Anthony was a proud graduate of J.I. Case High School, Class of 1987, in Racine, Wisconsin.  On January 9, 2004, he was united in holy matrimony to Millicent Fullilove in Jacksonville, Florida.

Anthony was a hard worker; he worked against all odds.  In September of 2008, he was shot, which resulted in his being in a coma for 22 days.  Upon waking, he was told he would never walk again and that he would be wheelchair bound and need a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.  But he fought, overcame and rose once more to be there for his children, his wife and his home.  He was a loving father and husband, who would do anything for his family, whether it be defending them, comforting them or laughing with them.

A man of discipline, strength, and integrity, Anthony devoted his life to empowering others, especially youth, through his work and his example.  He found love with Martial Arts and Taekwondo, first just doing it as a hobby until it became a passionate part of his life.   He served as a Martial Arts and Taekwondo Instructor at Mettle Mix Martial Arts, where he inspired countless students with both his skill and character. He also proudly worked at Zarephath Academy as a Coach and Head of Security, serving the school community with dedication and love.

He had many jobs including Jim's Place( which he loved and was proud of ), Zarephath Academy, and Tree servicing.  Between 2006 and 2008, Anthony was employed with Canan Steele Corporation, and he also volunteered his time and talent with YESHA Ministries, teaching martial arts to youth as a positive outlet and tool for growth.  He achieved his third-degree Black belt while at Yesha Ministries.  But his biggest and most loved job was coaching football after his son, Avery, began football.

Anthony made it so his child would succeed.  He became Avery's football coach, a fulfilling and rewarding job that became his life.   Anthony always showed up and gave his all, he took care of the team like they were his own kids, and in a way, they were.   Anthony provided water, snacks, team talks and encouragement for his boys.  Coaching was his passion, he met great people, created amazing relationships and was at every single game.   Eventually, he found the school and football team he believed in and wanted his son to attend.  A school that treated him like family immediately and challenged him and his son for Greatness.  William Raines Senior High School, where his son plays for "The Vikings".   Anthony had immense pride and respect for Raines and their team.  He was always repping his son's number 76, on and off the field.  He consistently gave back the same love and support they gave him.

A man of faith, Anthony was a faithful member of the House of Yahweh since 2002, and lived his life in service, humility, and purpose. He gave back to his community in many ways, including as a volunteer football coach, where he was affectionately known by his team as "Coach Frozo." He also supported Hydration for University Christian and other youth-focused initiatives.

Anthony peacefully departed this life on September 21, 2025, at 12:31pm, surrounded by love and family, after fighting Stage 4 Lung Cancer at UF Health North.   Anthony was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mrs. Ella Jones Lang, and his son, Anthony Tyrone Jones, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Millicent Fullilove-Jones; his children, Ms. Tashina Jones, Ms. Paige Hegel, Ms. Alyssa Jones, Ms. Maya Jones, and Avery Jones; his nine treasured grandchildren,  Anthony T. Jones III, Jahnile Jones, Nigel Jones, Amari Jones, Noah Jones, Little Miss Dream Jones, Little Miss Iyanna Jones, Little Miss Antoinella Jones, and Little Miss Dream McNeil; He is also survived by his loving siblings,  Andre' Jones (Sarah) and Mrs. Octavia T. Cross (Maurice); his aunt, Ms. Barbara Taylor; his father- and mother-in-law, Walter and Joyce Fullilove; his brother-in-law, Brian Fullilove;  a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, beloved students, and dear friends.

Anthony was a fighter and comedian.  His voice and laughter could light up the whole room in seconds.  He touched so many people's lives.  He and his spirit will forever be missed.  Anthony Tyrone Jones lived a life of impact. His legacy is one of strength, service, and love — and his memory will live on in the lives of those he taught, mentored, and loved. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

"Well done, good and faithful servant..." Matthew 25:23
