Benjamin Hardie Clark was born on August 16, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Gene and Corine Clark. Ben attended Moncrief Elementary School, Northwestern Junior High School, and he was a proud graduate of William M. Raines High School, Class of 1970. He furthered his education at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and was a proud member of the renowned Marching 100.
After returning to Jacksonville in 1975, Ben met the love of his life, Darlena Bonnie Flowers. They were united in marriage on February 3, 1979. To this union, two children were born: Benjamin Iaam and Briea Guiler.
In 1977, Ben became a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 234, where he excelled in his craft. He worked at W.W. Gay for many dedicated years before starting his own business, B.C. Mechanical, in 1996.
Throughout his life's journey, Ben formed many lasting friendships and meaningful connections.
In 1984, Ben gave his life to Christ and became a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, located on the corner of Oakley and Van Buren Street. There, he was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Ben loved Christ with all his heart and soul and served as an excellent Sunday School teacher. Christ truly placed songs in his heart.
Benjamin Clark departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Gene Clark; his grandmothers, Coretha Christie and Annie McRoy; and his brothers, Mark Lynn Clark and Randall Craig Clark.
Ben leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 47 years, "Bonn" (Rubble); his son, Benjamin Iaam Clark; his daughter and son-in-law, Briea and Daniel Clark Connors; and his grandson, Kieran Lennon Clark Connors. He is also survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Corine and Clarence McNair; his brothers and sister-in-law, Carlos Adkins and Eugene and Linda Clark; his sister and brother-in-law, Vangi and King McKnight; his sisters-in-law, Attress Jennings, Wanda Flowers Peacock (Donald), and Brenda Alexander; his aunts, Mary McRoy, Evelyn Edwards, and Connie Jenkins (Bishop Oliver); his uncles, Benjamin Lewis and Robert Lewis (Martha); his goddaughter, Ryshelle Freeman; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins,other relative and friends.
