Life Reflections of Mrs. Camilla Louise Broughton Brown
Mrs. Camilla Louise Broughton Brown was born, the eldest of four children on March 31, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George Samuel Broughton, Sr. and Mrs. Hazel Hallmon Broughton.
At an early age, Camilla accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakland for most of her life, where her father served as one of the original Church officers.
She received her early education at Matthew W. Gilbert on "The Eastside" of Jacksonville, until the age of thirteen, when the family relocated to Brunswick, Georgia, following the death of her father. Camilla completed her high school education in Brunswick, graduating from Risley Senior High School. Subsequently, she moved back to Jacksonville, where she met and married the love of her life, Edward Brown in 1953. This union was blessed with five children.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker in the early part of her marriage. As a loving, devoted wife and mother, she cared for her family deeply. Later, she joined the workforce and later became employed by the Internal Revenue Service, the Air Traffic Control and the United States Postal Service, where she retired after rendering thirty-three years of dedicated service.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Edward Brown; son, Gregory K. Brown; siblings, George Samuel Broughton, Jr., Rosetta L. Broughton Staley and Robert J. Broughton; son-in-law, Earl James Fields; granddaughters, Deborah A. Foster and Maria Brown and nephew, Michael Staley.
On Thursday, October 14, 2021, Mrs. Camilla Louise Broughton Brown transitioned from her earthly home to God's Kingdom of Eternal Life. Her memories will be forever cherished by the loving family she leaves behind. Her children; Bonus Son, Oliver Brown (Bettye); daughters, Michelle Brown Stewart (Johnnie), Jacquelyn Brown Robinson, Iris Brown Fields (William), Deionn Brown Glover (Juan); grandchildren, Sharyla Robinson, Elicia Fields, De'Jon Glover, Sabella Stewart, Re'Nal Glover, Johnathan Stewart (LaShandra), Sharon McGruder (Arthur) and Julius Denson, Sr. (Pamela); great grandchildren, Jalen Stewart and Lauren Stewart; nephews, Bruce Broughton, Clifford Staley (Veronica) and Wendell Staley (Treneice); a loving godson, Rod Carter; a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts other family and friends.
