BROWN Deacon Charles Brown, Sr., age 73, affectionately known as "Coach Brown", peacefully passed away July 18, 2010. He was a native of Jacksonville, FL, where he attended the local public schools graduating from Paxon Senior High School. Furthering his education, he attended the University of Florida where he earned the certification of Occupational Specialist. Deacon Brown was a faithful member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was employed with Duval County School Board as an Occupational Specialist until he retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations include membership with the Deacons Board, Repast Committee, District Leader for District # 20, and Sunday School Superintendent of his church. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Mrs. Myris B. Brown; children, Charles Brown, Mrs. Cynthia Brown-Newton (Donald), Jonnathan Brown, Tony Miles, Mrs. Geraldine Thompson (Leonard) and Ms. Sandra Hickson; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Brown, Robert Brown (Barbara) and Russell Brown (Penny); sister, Mrs. Emma Young (David); 4 sisters-in-law; a number of other relatives and friends. A FUNERAL SERVICE celebrating the life of Deacon Brown will be held 10 AM, Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, Rev. H.B. Charles, Pastor. Deacon Brown will rest in the mortuary for visitation of friends Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM) and Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service. Entombment will be in the Garden Cloister Mausoleum of Evergreen Cemetery.
