Obituary

Deacon Curtis Griffin, 77, passed away October 31, 2020.  A native of Jacksonville, he attended the local schools, graduating from New Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1962.  Deacon Griffin was employed by Western Union Telegraph Company as the last Messenger, where he rendered over 36 years before retiring.  Other affiliations include being a faithful member of Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on various boards.   He was predeceased by his parents, Vick and Lucille Mitchell Griffin; brother-in-law, Gregory A. Johnson and daughter, Wendy Ramona Griffin.  Survivors include his wife Mrs. Rosa Carter Griffin; children, Mrs. Pamela E. Griffin-Rainey (Pernell), Ms. Curtrina Griffin-Brown; grandchildren, Mikhail Coker (Danielle), Curtis Rainey, Nigel Brown, Ms. Nadia R. Brown, Davin Farnell, Lamon Farnell; great grandchildren, Amare' Luh-Coker, Kobe Coker and Carmyn Rainey; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; 7 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; a number of other relatives and friends.
