Obituary

Deacon Jesse Pullins, Jr. (affectionately known as "Bump") gained his wings, and was called by our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. God in his infinite wisdom dispatched an Angel to transition our Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend home to Glory.

On March 7, 1937, he was born to Jesse Pullins, Sr. & Adell Pullins in Palatka, Florida. His educational journey included graduating from New Stanton High School in 1956, entering Florida A & M University on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. In 1974 he returned to Florida A & M where he obtained his master's degree.

For 30 plus years, his commitment and dedication were at Second Missionary Baptist Church, serving wherever needed, but primarily as a Deacon until he was unable to do so.  Jesse was also a chartered member of the "Live Long and Like It" social club.

Jesse's 35-year career as an educator and counselor with DCPS, allowed him to serve both elementary and middle-aged students, with notable schools such as Sandalwood High and Northwestern Middle to mention a few. Most of his roots as an educator were spent at Sandalwood High School.  He retired in 1996.
