Obituary

Dolores Smith Falls was born in Rahway, New York to the late Keith Blackwell and Jean Blackwell Jolly on July 2, 1930. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Alonzo and Anna Jolly. She was educated in the New York Public Schools. After graduation from High School, in 1983 Dolores furthered her education at Merchant Real Estate School.

On December 2, 1979, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Lt. Col John Falls. Lt. Col. Falls preceded Dolores in death in 2014 after thirty-four years of blissful marriage.

She began her career as a Civil Service employee with the Navy Department in the Brooklyn Naval Shipyard. In 1962, she transferred to the Social Security Administration as a Claims Clerk. In the following years, she was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Teleservice Center in Jersey City, serving New York. She retired in 1985 after rendering over Thirty years of dedicated service.

As an avid traveler, she traveled the Caribbean yearly, since Sherri was six years old. Some of their destinations include Barbados, Bermuda, Amsterdam, Paris, London, St. Kitts, Virgin Islands and Punta Cana, Jon and her traveled to St. Martens twice a year for a month at time over the past thirty years. Her adventurous spirit led her to being a Hair Model with Diahann Carroll, friend of Sidney Poitier, swam with the Dolphins, gambled and won in St. Marten, Poconos, Mt. Airy, Connecticut MGM and Conn Foxwood, and in Hollywood, FL, The Hard Rock. After retirement, her spirit for entrepreneurship and love of cooking led her to open Le Concierge, catering for weddings and parties where she rendered 22 years of service. She also ran her church United Methodist Church Of Branchville, New Jersey Thrift Shop for decades.

Dolores Smith Falls departed this life on October 5, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ms. Sherri Whiteside; grandchildren, Reggie Whiteside and Jason Whiteside; great grandchildren, Genesis Espino, Elijah M. Whiteside and Miracle Lynn Whiteside; great-great granddaughter, Jazzlynn Dunkley; a number of other relatives and friends.
