BUTLER Mr. Donell Butler, Sr., age 78, passed away November 26, 2010 in a local hospital. A Jacksonville native, he received his early education from the Duval County Public School System, graduating from Stanton Senior High School- Class of 1953. Mr. Butler was employed with the U. S. Postal Service as a Mail Handler until retiring after rendering 34 years of dedicated service. He served his country in the U.S. Army until being Honorably Discharged. Mr. Butler was predeceased by his father, Owens Butler and son, Michael Butler. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Wilhelmina Butler; children, Mrs. Lenelle Cruse (Cedric), Ms. Paulette Butler, Donell Butler, Jr. (Joyce), Ms. Jacqueline Butler and Gregory Butler (Myah); 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Ruby Butler Dix; step brother, Dr. Robert L. Mitchell (Delores); brother-in-law, Eugene Bryant (Dorothy); a number of other relatives and friends. A FUNERAL SERVICE celebrating Mr. Butler's life will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, where he held membership, with Dr. H. T. Rhim, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Butler will rest in the mortuary for visitation Wednesday from 5 PM until 8PM (where the family will receive friends at 6PM) and Thursday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service.
