Obituary

Dorothy Mae Johnson went home to her Creator on Friday December 16 th , 2022 at 3:43pm after a prolonged battle with diminished health and sickness. Her transition from earth left behind a legacy that will live on for decades to come.

Dot as she was commonly referred to by friends and family, was born in Cochran Georgia on June 7th, 1955 to Horace and Hattie Bell Baggs. Dot relocated to Jacksonville Florida at a young age. She was the 2nd of six children and undoubtedly the most entertaining of the six. She attended the local school of Duval County. Dot was a graduate of William M Raines Class of 1973 and shortly after gave birth to her first child Reginald in 1975. Five years later, she gave birth to her second and last child Kiahna in 1980.

As a responsible parent, she dedicated her life to providing a stable environment for her children and eventually passed that same love down to her grandchildren.

Dorothy was employed for years in the hotel industry. During her spare time, she enjoyed being fashionable, solving crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on her laptop. She had a love for Florida Gators football which was ignited by her son attending The University of Florida in 1994.

Dot was known by all as the life of the party and for never being afraid to speak her mind. More importantly, she was also known as having the willingness to help anyone who came into her life. Prior to leaving this earth she spoke about her only wishes were to ensure that her children remained close and that her grandchildren and great grandchild were taken care of.

She was predeceased by her parents. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Mr. Reginald Baggs (Dr. Bisi); her daughter, Ms. Kiahna Baggs; grandchildren, Samaya Anderson, Avery Anderson, Brianna Baggs and Sariah Baggs; great grandchild Carlis Smith, Jr.; sisters, Hattie Simmons, Lavina Green and Irene Gibson; brother, Sean Baggs; god daughter, Vernell Jackson; devoted friends, Earline Johnson and Carolyn Banks; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will remember her
