Obituary

Ellis White was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Mary White and Ben Dean on September 1, 1937. He attended the public schools of Hamilton County, Tennessee including Howard High School of Chattanooga. Later, he furthered his education, earning an Associate of Arts degree at Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

After high school, Mr. White enlisted in the United States Navy, where he became an Aircraft Mechanic. He served his country Honorably, until retiring, after rendering over twenty years of dedicated service.

After his military service, his career began at the United States Postal Service in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was a Mail Handler. Again, he retired from this career, after rendering 22 years of service. Mr. White enjoyed numerous activities and affiliations, including membership in the Masonic Family, Lodge #121, 32nd degree—Royal Arch Chapter, Supreme Grand Lodge and Lions Club International.

Ellis White, Sr. departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Carlotta White; and sister, Ms. Lula Bell Morton. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Mrs. Sylvia White Bryant (Ronald, Sr.), Mrs. Cynthia White Sims (Joseph), Ms. Lydia White Beasley, Ellis White, Jr., and Terry White, Sr.; 11 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Ms. Anne Shropshire; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
