Mrs. Esther Brown Barton, well-known educator, passed away peacefully July 19, 2021.  A native of Jacksonville, she attended the local public schools.  Furthering her education, she attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where she earned a B.S. degree and later the Masters degree was conferred.  As one Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Barton was employed by the Duval County School Board as a Teacher and Guidance Counselor, having rendered over 36 years of dedicated service before retiring in 1990.  Other affiliations include being a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., The Centurian Club, Duval County Teacher's Association, The Benevolettes Social Club and Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Chancel Choir and was a former Trustee Board member.  She was predeceased by her parents, Gary Brown and Mrs. Julia M. Smiley Brown and her husband, Clarence Barton.  She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mrs. Juliet Johnson; grandchildren, William Dwayne Johnson and Jhanelle Johnson; a number of other relatives and friends.
