Evelyn Adams James-Childs' Obituary
Dr. Evelyn Adams James-Childs passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018. A Jacksonville native, Dr. James-Childs attended the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from Matthew W. Gilbert Jr.-Sr. High School – Class of 1959. Furthering her education, she attended Albany State College, where she earned a B.S. degree in Nursing; she also attended the University of Colorado and the Master's degree and PhD were both conferred. Dr. James-Childs spent most of her adult life in Denver, Colorado, where she was employed as a Registered Nurse Educator at the University of Colorado; she also taught in Georgia at Albany State University. Other affiliations include Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. Survivors include her husband, who passed away on June 7, 2018, Ralph A. Childs, Sr.; daughter, Ms. Heather Deonne James; stepsons, Ralph A. Childs, Jr. (Carmen), Ronnie A. Childs (Becca) and LeRoy D. Childs; stepdaughter, Ms. Janaka N. Childs-Higuera; sister, Mrs. Ethel M. Adams-Hillsman (Eddie); brother, Charlie Barlow; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
