Gilbert Simmons was born on October 3, 1958 to Mrs. Edlee Frazier Simmons and the late Leroy Simmons in Jacksonville, Florida.He was educated in the local public schools of  Duval County, graduating from Jean Ribault Senior High School- Class of 1976. Furthering his education, he earned certification as a Welder Pipe Fitter at UA Plumbers and Pipe Fitters In Jacksonville Fl.

At an early age, he accepted Christ.  At the time of his demise, he was a member of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church.

He enlisted in the United States Army where he served for many years. Mr. Simmons served his country until being Honorably discharged.   For over 30 years, Mr. Simmons was employed by the United Association Of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union-Local 234, until retiring.

Gilbert Simmons departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves to cherish his memory, his legacy, including his children, Ms. Tiffany Simmons, Joshua Simmons and Samuel Simmons; six grandchildren, Terrell Simmons, Tyree Moore, Kierra Simmons,Kierston Simmons Gianni Simmons, Cairo Simmons; two great grandchildren, Siobahn Simmons, Nova Moore; mother, Mrs. Eddlee Simmons; siblings, Ronald Simmoms, Donald Simmons and Ms. Pamela  Simmons; aunts, Inez Dowe, Betty Davis, Mrs. Edith Davis and Mrs.Mary Glover; uncle, Sinclair Davis ; special friend, Alnita Brown and a number of cousins, other relatives and friends
