Obituary
Mrs. Gladys Stephens Hodges Kersey was born on December 13, 1933 to the late Lenard and Viola Stephens in Wrightsville, GA. She attended the local schools of Glynn County and was a proud graduate of Risley High School - Class of 1951.
After graduation, Mrs. Kersey attended Brunswick Junior College, where she obtained her Nursing Certification, as she loved to care for others. She was a proud Licensed Practical Nurse at Glynn Brunswick Memorial Hospital for 28 years, before retiring in 1984.
Mrs. Kersey accepted the Lord early in her life. At the time of her demise, she was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (Sweetwater), where she served for many years under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William LaVan, Pastor Emeritus and currently, Pastors Jack and Annette Harmon. As a faithful member she served as a Deaconess. Other affiliations include Lincoln Villa Senior Citizens Center.
On December 7,1983, Gladys was united in holy matrimony to Smith J. Kersey. This union was blessed with one daughter, and one stepdaughter.
Mrs. Kersey was predeceased by her parents; husband; brothers; Lenard Stephens Jr, William Stephens, and Albert Stephens; and sister, Mrs. Arlie P. Stephens Jackson.
Mrs. Glady Stephens Hodges Kersey departed this life on Monday August 15,2022. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Russell (Jeffery); stepdaughter,Ms. Vicki Kersey; granddaughters, Mrs. Meocia McLeod (Karon) and Ms. Julia Lismore; five great grandchildren, Makayla Coggins, Mylah Coggins, Christina Newkirk, Cameron Jay Lismore, Kaira Mcleod; beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Rachel Stephens; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
