Mrs. Harriet Mathis Martin, well-known educator, passed away November 23, 2019.  A native of Jacksonville, she attended the local public schools, graduating from Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1942.  Furthering her education, she attended Florida A&M University, where she earned  Bachelor of Science degrees in Home Economics and Elementary Education.  As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Martin was employed as a Teacher before retiring after rendering over 36 years of dedicated service. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Richard Martin.  Survivors include her children, Charles N. Martin (Audrey) and Mrs. Brenda M. Harrell; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lavania Mathis; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
