Mrs. Helen Parker Bargeron, was born on February 25, 1926 in Ocala, Florida to
the late Edgar Parker and Mrs. Doretha Steplight Parker. Mrs. Bargeron was
educated in the Marion County Public Schools and graduated from Howard
Academy in the Class of 1946. Furthering her education, she graduated from the
Brewster Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She continued her studies at
Edward Waters College (now Edward Waters University), Jacksonville, Florida
and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
In January of 1951, she married the love of her life, the late Mr. James E.
Bargeron, Sr. and this union was blessed with three (3) children; Cynthia, James E,
Jr. and Darryl.
An active member of The Bethel Church for most of her life, Mrs. Bargeron served
on the Senior Usher Board, the Health and Welfare Guild, and the Nurses Guild.
She was a member of the Live Long and Like It Senior Citizen Club. A charter
member of the Christian Sharing Club and a charter member and the first Life
Member of Sigma Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, Inc. where she served
in numerous capacities that included but was not limited to Basileus Tamias,
Grammateus Chaplain, and Historian Epistoleus.
Mrs. Bargeron passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024. She leaves to cherish her
memories, 3 devoted children, Mrs. Cynthia Bargeron Lowe (Deacon Lester K.),
James E. Bargeron, Jr. (Paula) and Darryl S. Bargeron; 4 grandchildren, Stanley
Lowe, Lester E. Lowe, Sr., Ms. Pamela Bargeron and Shaun Bargeron; 5 great
grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Alice Johnson; 2 sisters-in-
law, Ms. Gladys Randle and Mrs. Joyce Jordan; Godson, Thomas Bevel; special
friends, Ms. Vivian Hill, Dr. Claudette Bryant, Ms. Armenia Green and Ms.
Christine Ross; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
