Obituary

On Monday August 1, 2022, God saw fit to call Helen A. Timmons, affectionately known as "Mama Helen", from her earthly home to a land where one never grows old.

Helen A. Timmons was born on October 15, 1921 to the late Irvin Taylor and the late Mrs. Melinee Brown Taylor of Kings Ferry, Florida. She received her early education in the local schools of Nassau county.

Very early in life, Helen accepted the Lord and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Jenkins. She served as a faithful member who loved her church for many years and also, served as a member of Choir #1, and the Deaconess Board.

On January 18, 1942 she was united in holy matrimony to Adolphus Timmons. This union was blessed with three daughters. Mrs. Timmons worked at Hilliard High school of Nassau County for 17 years as supervisor of maintenance.

She was preceded in death by her  husband of 70 years and 9 months Adolphus Timmons; a devoted daughter, Helen Euretha  "Rita" Lyons; son-in-law Anthony "Tony" Barr; sisters, Earnie Winston, Alice Timmons, and Inez Hill; and brothers, Howard Taylor, Lemuel Taylor, Mose Taylor and Harold Taylor.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Betty Barr and Jeanetta Hill (Johnnie); adopted son, William Lyons; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; Aunt, Victoria Jones; sisters-in-law Ruby Taylor and Cora Lee Timmons; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. God daughters, Myrtle Williams and Mrs. Trenka Everett (Mason).
