Mrs. Ira B. Washington passed away peacefully December 31, 2019.  She attended the local public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from Middleton Senior High School – Class of 1945.  Furthering her education, she attended Florida A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She also attended Florida State University, where the Masters degree in Library Science was conferred.  Mrs. Washington was employed by Duval County Public Schools as a Librarian, having rendered over thirty-five years before retiring.   Other affiliations include being a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Dorothy Williams Church School Class, Trustee Emeritus, Young at Heart Senior Ministry and Women of Allen.  She was predeceased by her son, Nathaniel S. Washington, Jr. and husband, Nathaniel S. Washington, Sr.  Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Patti Washington Bennefield (Washington); seven grandchildren; great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Emma Jean Bryant; a number of other relatives and friends.
