J. Ralph
Greene

On June 26, 1937, J. Ralph Greene was born to Mr. Thomas Greene and Mrs. Jennie
Roberson Greene. He was the youngest of five children: Thomas Jr., Ruth, Henry and
Marion who all preceded him in death. After the death of his parents, Ralph was raised
by his aunt and uncle, Mrs. Effie and Mr. James Warner.
Ralph was educated in the public schools of Duval County graduating in the 1956 class
of New Stanton Senior High School and furthering his education at Walker Business
College. His early Christian life was in the African Methodist Episcopal faith at Greater
Grant Memorial Church.
In the early 1970's he joined Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he faithfully
served until he became too ill to do so. At Mount Sinai he served on the Trustee,
Marriage and Bereavement ministries.
Ralph showed his commitment to country and community by serving as a member of
the United States Army and as one of the first African Americans in the Florida National
Guard. He was one of the founding members of Fire Station #36 where he worked as a
volunteer fireman that paved the way for the permanent fire station facility that stands
today.
He was a Mason in the Eureka Lodge #51 and socially, a faithful member of Club
Baron.
Ralph worked as a recruiter at Lincoln Business College. He was a career Salesman
with Phillip Morris, USA where he retired as Manager of Military Sales.
A man truly dedicated to God, family, community and country, he is survived by
Patricia his wife of 53 years, children: Carolyn and J. Ralph II (Pamela), grand children:
Antonio (LaTasha), and Jamal, great grand children: Dominic and Lena, nephew:
George A. Sharpe, Jr. (Miranda), niece: Nicole Sharpe, godson: Gregory McKinnon,
other nephews and nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
