Obituary

Gone but not Forgotten…

Jack Dean Wynn, Jr., age 79, transitioned on August 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.  He was the son of the late Jack Dean Wynn, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Ann Jenkins Wynn, born on December 28, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida.  He attended the public schools of Duval County graduating from Stanton Senior High School.   As an active youth, Jack played tennis and was a lifeguard at the Jefferson Street Pool.

In December 1963, Jack entered the United States Air Force, where he served his country until being Honorably Discharged.  Furthering his education, he earned a bachelor's degree at Edward Waters College.  During his matriculation at Edward Waters College, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

As the son of Jack Dean Wynn, Sr., the owner of the bustling Wynn Hotel in the 60's and brother to the internationally acclaimed and renowned artist, Daniel Wynn, he had a keen eye for style.  His passion for fashion led him to become one of the first African American male models for the department store, May Cohens, a print model for Bill Blass; and was the lead model in the commercial for the club, JazzCo.   Jack was employed by the United States Postal Service, where he rendered over twenty years of dedicated service before retiring.  He was an inspiration to many and obtained his Cosmetology License, where he later offered salon services in a boat house on the St. Johns River.

Jack Dean Wynn, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Katina Byrd.  He is survived by his wife, Imelda Wynn; children, Jack Dean Wynn, III(Levater Wynn) and Christie Jones Bird(Allen Y. Bird); stepchildren, Ashley De LaRosa and Kevin; grandchildren, Codi Lamb, Christopher Wynn, Jireh Wynn and Tanya Wynn Kungu; great grandchildren; brother, Daniel Rueben Wynn; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Jack curated the life he wanted to live and he will be remembered for his charm, his jokes, and his passion for life.  He was affectionally known as, the "Silver Fox" and we know that his memory will live long in the lives of the ones he loved and the ones who loved him.
