Obituary

Ms. Janet P. Hankins was born to the only child to  the late late Rev. Howard Alexander Hankins and Willie Maye Hankins on December 18, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida.  She was education in the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from New Stanton Senior High School - Class of 1968.  Furthering her education, she attended Florida Junior College.

Janet was baptized at an early  age at St. John Baptist Church under the pastorate of  Reverend Harold Hair.  She used her gifted voice to glorify God throughout he entire life.

Ms. Hankins was employed as a System Programming Analysis with Prudential Life Insurance Company, teaching policies and procedures across various states for the agency.  She retired on August 6, 1999, after rendering over twenty-eight years of dedicated service.

With music being her passion, August 6, 1999, she joined the singing group, "Voices of Respect"; serving as lead soprano.  Her first love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She also loved to bake.  There was always a pound cake waiting on the table for her godson, The Reverend George Reed, Jr., and his mother, Dr. Loranda Moore Denson, both in whom she adored.

She leaves to cherish her memory her first cousins, Frances E. Vandyke, Hazel H. Wilson, Paula L. Derry, Royal C. Dixon, Nijel A'dar; a number of other cousins, relatives and friends.
