Obituary

Mrs. Joe Ann Grant Maxwell was born on September 28, 1944, to the late Joseph Linvert Grant Sr. and Doretha Sterricks Grant.

Mrs.Joe Ann was a proud graduate of New Stanton High School, Class of 1962, and spent her early years in Jacksonville, Florida. At a young age, she moved to New York City, where she would build a life full of new experiences.

In 1969, Joe Ann was united in holy matrimony to her loving husband, Terrence David Maxwell. Together, they raised a son, Terrance Grant Maxwell, and shared a life of love and devotion.

Mrs. Maxwell dedicated 31 years of her life to serving as an employee of Metro North Commuter Railroad. After retiring, she returned to Jacksonville, where she continued to pour love and care into her family and community.

Her warm and kind spirit was known by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Joe Ann was always ready to extend her generous hospitality, often serving delicious home-cooked meals with a smile. Her pleasant demeanor made everyone feel welcome and loved.

On November 12, 2024, Mrs. Maxwell peacefully transitioned. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: John Grant, Joseph Grant Jr., Ms. Christine Davis, Ms. Vermell Rozena Robertson, Ms. Adrina Ford, Ms. Margaret Colder, Ms. Judy Jenkins, and Ms. Brenda Grant.

Joe Ann's memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Terrence David Maxwell; her son, Terrance Grant Maxwell (Keli); grandchildren, Sijah, Terrance, and Sijerah Maxwell; and her siblings, George Grant (Alma), Lionel Grant (Sandra), Ms.Joletha Williams, Ms. Maxine Gillespie, and Ms.Deborah Grant.
