Mr. Johnny Owens Wyms was born August 2, 1942 in Radford, Virginia to the late Owens and Mrs. Anna Belle Thomas Wyms.  He attended the local schools, graduating from Christiansburg Institute, Inc. (formerly Christiansburg Industrial Institute).

Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully in the Vietnam War until being Honorably Discharged.

Furthering his education, he attended New River Valley Community College.

Mr. Wyms accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.

In his adult life, he met and married the former Ms. Carneva McIver.  This union was blessed with four children.

Mr. Wyms was employed as a Mechanical-Electrical Engineer with Anheuser-Busch Brewery Company, having rendered over thirty-five years of dedicated service before retiring.

Other affiliations include being a member of the Masonic Order as well as a member of First Timothy Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Frederick Newbill.

He was predeceased by his son, Anthony McIver.

On December 28, 2020 Mr. Johnny Owens Wyms went home to be with the Lord.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Carneva McIver Wyms; children, Ms. Donna McIver Katzenberger, John R. Wyms and Myra A. Wyms; grandchildren, Ms. Tranika McIver, Ms. Lynette Akers, Ms. Carneva "Cookie" Brown, Keenan Andrew Brown (LaToya) and Ms. Darreyell Simmons; great grandchildren, Kayla Strive, Willie McIver, Desiree' Murray, Desi "Gam" Murray, Jr., Destiny Akers, Niqua Banks, Azia Banks and Diamond Banks; eight great-great grandchildren; sister, Ms. Rosalind Nelson; uncle, Calvin Thomas (Elaine); aunts, Ms. Bert Thomas and Ms. Pannie Flynn; nieces, Ms. Muriel McIver, Ms. Nikita Dougal, Ms. Veronica Nelson, Ms. Revonda McIver and Ms. Rachonda Levy; a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.
