Josie Pamela
Grant-Adams
September 7, 2023
JOSIE PAMELA GRANT-ADAMS was born in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday, April 2, 1951 to loving parents, Arnold, Sr. and Iva Grant. She was reared in a loving family, where she enjoyed the fellowship of many family members and friends. Additionally, Pam enjoyed spending time in East Jacksonville with her grandmother, Josie Laster, better known as Mother. There, she fell in love with the Tabernacle Baptist Church, and became a born again believer at a young age. She served faithfully in several capacities at the Church.
Pamela attended the local public schools of Duval County, graduating in the Class of 1968 from William M. Raines High School. In the fall of 1968, Pamela enrolled in Florida A & M University, graduating in the Fall Class of 1972 with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She later enrolled in and graduated from the University of North Florida, obtaining the Master of Education Degree. Pamela spent her career in education working in the St. Johns County Public School System and later transferred to Duval County Public School System, where she retired after many years of creditable service. Pam made a huge impact on the lives of her students and their parents. The summer seasons of her life were spent travelling near and far to different countries, cities, states, and family reunions. Additionally, Pam enjoyed activities that brought her joy. She spoke often about her work with "The Miss Black Jacksonville Pageant," the Gamma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The Moles, and being one of the twenty-two women who participated in the chartering of the Bold City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Out of all the many people Pam enjoyed and loved, there was not one that compared to the love of her life, Charlie Lee Adams. The two of them were joined in Holy Matrimony, March 15, 2005 and shared eighteen years of marriage. Although she was ill, she remained a devoted and caring wife to Charlie, trying to make certain that she remained true to the vows taken "to love and to cherish until death we are departed."
In the early hours of Thursday, September 7, 2023, Pam answered the call to come to a heavenly home where there would be no more disappointments, sickness, or death. There she was reunited with her parents, Arnold, Sr., and Iva; brother, Arnold, Jr.; grandmother, Josie, and other loving family members and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Mr. Charlie Lee Adams, Esquire (Retired); bonus son, Charlie Lee Adams, Jr.; brother-in-law, Judge Henry Lee Adams (Berniece); sister-in-law, Mrs. Francina Adams Dunbar; loving and devoted cousins, Tamara and DeLease Reed (Caregivers), the twins, Kinsley and Kiyler Grant, Tiffany Laster and Daidra Flowers of Delray Beach, Florida, Evette and Lavern, Bubba, Joyce Simpson, Cheryl Miles, Jennifer Nelson, Phyllis Chaplin, and Carol Conway; goddaughter, Jasmine; life long friend, Betty Bullock; many other cousins, extended family, and friends who will all miss her dearly.
