Mrs. Kathryn Thomas Howell passed away peacefully December 11, 2019.   A native of Philadelphia, PA, having resided in Jacksonville most of her life, she attended the local public schools, graduating from Boylan Haven School for Girls – Class of 1943.  Furthering her education, she attended FAMC (now FAMU) where she earned a B.S. degree in English.  Mrs. Howell was employed by the State of Florida as a Social Worker, having rendered over 37 years of dedicated service before retiring.   Other affiliations include being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Survivors include her son, Kermit E. Howell (Maria); "like a son," Emory Howell; niece, Ms. Cheryl Thomas Johnson; grandnephews, Eric Johnson and Bryan Johnson; a number of other nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
