Larry Wayne Parker was born July 12, 1952 to the late Harry Parker and Thelma Willis Parker in Ocala, Florida. He received his early education in the public schools of Duval County, attending Northwestern Junior High School, and graduating from William M. Raines High School—Class of 1970. As an athlete, he played basketball, was a member of the wrestling team, and played his favorite sport of football as a defensive lineman.Furthering his education, he matriculated to Morgan State University on a football scholarship.
His career began after leaving college. He was employed by Union Camp, a chemical plant for 37 years as a release operator. Also, he was
employed by the University Club as a Massage Therapist for 20 years.Larry found pleasure playing golf, fishing, and gardening. He and several of his friends and colleagues worked on Jacksonville's Northside as Urban Farmers. They provided fresh produce to underserved areas within the community. He was a member of the Steelworker's Union and former-ly served as the President.
On July 6, 2023, Mr. Larry Wayne Parker peacefully passed away in Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Parker; sister, Sharon Norman; grandson, Royale D. Smith; stepfathers, Fletcher Johnson and Reverend E.I.Norman.
He leaves to cherish his memory his partner in life, Cassanders W. Price; mother, Thelma Willis;brother, Reverend Edward Norman; daughter, Laneisha C. Parker; sons, Larry R. Parker and Duane R. Parker; grandchildren, Ramania Parker, Daniya Parker, Kinsley Parker, Lawrence Phillips,III, and Lauren D. Smith; a devoted cousin, Stan Willis; former wife and mother of sons, Faye Parker; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins,other relatives and loving friends.
