Laura Pearl West, was born to the late Ransom and Evelyn Emanuel in Bainbridge, Georgia on April 13, 1932.

She was reared in Decatur County Georgia and educated in Decatur County Public School System. She married Charles Edward West, Sr., on March 24, 1948.  To their union ten children were born.  Laura was a loving Mother who loved her family dearly and most importantly loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and serving others.

Laura, began her lifelong walk with the Lord at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Bainbridge, Georgia where she received salvation. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida and later to Macclenny, she became an active, loyal member of Allen Chapel, A.M.E. Church; where she faithfully served, extending her heart to her Church family and Community.  She took great pride in serving on the Usher Board and ministry of Hospitality.  She loved reading her Bible daily and encouraged others to do the same.  She was a Woman of Faith.  She believed in the miracle working power of God.  She was a prayer warrior, who believed that her battles were best fought on her knees.  She believed that she was blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). She was full of good works (Acts 9:36) and a blessing to all.  She enjoyed cooking and fellowshipping with others and will be remembered for her devotion to her family.

Laura Pearl West departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 21, 2021, assured by 2 Corinthians 5:1, "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."  She will be missed by all she helped to love and nurture.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former spouse, son, Rev. Charles (Charlie) Edward West, Jr., grandsons, Nathaniel Jerome Stewart, Craig West and Cornelius West, siblings; Espy, Bo, Garfield, Grace, Alfred, George and  Charlie "Bop".

Her legacy of love includes: 3 Daughters; Patricia Stewart, Peggy West, Barbara McElvy, 6 Sons; Larry West, Sr., Carl West, Josepha West, Jackie (Cynthia) West, Danny West and Christopher West; 22 - Grandchildren, 33 - Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild; 3 Sisters; Christine Jeffery, Shirley Pullins and Linda Faison; 3 Sisters-In-Law; Annette Kennedy, Dora Mae West and Dollie Emanuel; 1 Brother-in-law, Rev. Sylvester Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
