Mrs. Lee passed away peacefully on June 18, 2018. A native of Jacksonville, she attended the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1939. Furthering her education, she attended FAMC (Florida A&M University), where she earned a B.A. degree in Education in 1944. As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Lee was employed with Duval County School Board as an Elementary School Teacher, before retiring after rendering over 35 years of dedicated service. She was a trailblazer within Duval Teachers United (DTU). Serving on the governance board, she helped negotiate the first contract for her unit. She served as a precinct committee woman, lead the charge to organize and mobilize union members and was instrumental in organizing the DTU retiree chapter. Other affiliations include Class Leader of Class #52, Usher Board #2, Pulpit Aide Board of her church, Life member of Phi Delta Kappa Educational Sorority, Inc. – Alpha Gamma Chapter, Duval Teachers United, Duval County Democratic Woman's Club and several social clubs. Mrs. Lee was predeceased by her parents, Ira and Josie Daniels and husband, John Henry Lee, Sr.; sister, Dorothy Daniels Childs; brothers, Ira C. Daniels, Jr. and Travis Williams. Survivors include her son, John H. Lee, Jr. (Jacquelyn); daughter, Ms. E. Denise Lee; grandchildren, Mrs. Tamara H. Williams (Carlton), Jason J. Lee (Shayla) and Justin M. Lee; great grandchildren, Taylor M. Williams, Tyler C. Williams and Raegan S. Lee; nieces, Mrs. Iris Y. Rosier (Walter) and Ms. Sharon Y. Cook; nephew, Ira C. Daniels, III (Carol), several goddaughters, a number of other nieces, nephews, cousins, including special cousins, Kerry Daniels and Betty Brown; other relatives and friends including her life-long friend, Mrs. Alice Pope.
