Lorine
Hay
July 9, 2023
Over the years Lorine Beverly Taylor Hay came to realize that there's only one way to get ready for
immortality and that is to love life and live it as bravely and faithfully as we can.
On September 5, 1941, Lorine Beverly Taylor Hay was born to the late Louise Faust Allen. Lorine was born
and raised in Allendale, South Carolina. She matriculated through the Allendale County Public School
System. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Miller
Swamp Missionary Baptist Church in Sycamore, South Carolina. In her adult life, she met the love of her life,
Willie Hay, and their love story was legendary. They were married in South Carolina and relocated to
Jacksonville, Florida. They were blessed with ten children. She later became a faithful member of St. Paul
A.M.E. Church, in Jacksonville, Florida during the early 1970's under the pastorate leadership of Reverend
Abraham C. Chandler, Sr. followed by the Reverend Dr. James M. Proctor, Reverend Dr. Marvin C. Zanders,
II, and Reverend Willie N. Barnes, Jr. PhD, along with her husband Willie Hay, who proceeded her in death,
and their children.
Lorine touched and impacted the lives of everyone that she encountered throughout her life. She always
had a strong commitment to family and friends. She was truly a very caring and giving individual…a soul of
good humor and generosity. Lorine enjoyed her family pets, flower & vegetable garden, and spending time
with her family. She was blessed with a green thumb and always knew the tricks for growing beautiful
flowers in her yard. At every step along the way, she was involved in many different aspects of her
children's lives. She lavished her husband and children with unconditional love and support and devoted
herself to loving and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother
who was always there when she was needed.
She peacefully departed this life and entered eternal rest on July 9, 2023, at Miller County Hospital in
Colquit, GA. She left a legacy of love and caring for family and friends to celebrate. She leaves behind many
sorrowing loved ones and friends. Her spirit and legacy lives on through her family, which includes her
children: Ms. Wanda Hay Brewton of Jacksonville, Fl, Willie Hay (Trina) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mrs.
Sadie Hay Clark (Harcourt) of Miami, Fl, Johnnie Hay of Jacksonville, Fl, Ms. Brin Hay of Jacksonville, Fl, John
