Obituary

Mrs. Louvenia Carolyn Bouknight Tippins was born of the union of the late Richard and
Lillie Mae Robinson Bouknight on July 26, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her
early education in the schools of Duval County, graduating from New Stanton Senor High
School-Class of 1963. Furthering her education, she matriculated to Harlem Hospital
School of Nursing, where she earned a degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.

Early in her life, Louvenia accepted Christ and became a member of The Sanctuary @
Mount Calvary, currently under the pastorate of Dr. John Allen Newman, where she has
remained until her demise. In 1974, Louvenia was united in holy matrimony to the late
Saul Tippins, Jr. and this union was blessed for many years before his demise.

She began her career as a Registered Nurse in New York. Later, after returning to
Jacksonville, Mrs. Tippins served the healthcare industry at Jacksonville Shands (now UF
Health) Medical Center. She rendered 22 years of professional and dedicated service
before her retirement. Her many affiliations include Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., former
member of Urban Core CPAC, Mayor's Neighborhoods Advisory Committee, COJ Council
on Elder Affairs, and served as former President of the 12 th Street Loyalty Club.

On June 23, 2023, Mrs. Louvenia Carolyn Bouknight Tippins peacefully passed away
surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years; parents; sister, Barbara
Diallo; brothers, Willie James Bouknight, Richard Bouknight, Jr., Leroy Bouknight; and
stepdaughter, Rhonda Tippins. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Ms.
Theresa Tippins and Mrs. Cantrail Grier-McDaniel (Rod); stepdaughters, Mses.
Jacqueline and Joselyn Tippins; grandson, Anthony W. Grier; aunt, Mrs. Helen Tippins;
devoted cousis, Ms. Linda Williams and William Wright(Iranettta); devoted niece, Ms.
Benita Gatson; devoted nephews, Kevin and Darryl(Patrina) Johnson; a number of other
cousins, other relatives and friends.
