Obituary

Mrs. Lydia Dwight Wooden, well-known educator passed away peacefully December 12, 2021. She attended the local schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1947. Furthering her education, Mrs. Wooden attended Fisk University and graduated from Florida A&M University. Other affiliations include being a faithful member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church (USA), where she was a former Trustee; member of the Jacksonville Chapters of the Moles, Jack & Jill, Inc. and Links, Inc. and The Association of African American Life and History (ASALH). She was predeceased by her parents, David H. Dwight Sr. and Mrs. Florida Dwight; husband, Otha L. Wooden; brother, David H. Dwight, Jr.; sister, Mrs. Charlotte Dwight Stewart; nephew, Dennis T. Stewart, Jr. and grandson, Meredith T. Harris, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Reeda Wooden Harris; grandson, Christopher R. Harris; stepdaughters, Ms. Patricia Jefferson and Ms. Cynthia Echewa; devoted nieces and nephews, Michael D. Stewart, Edythe D. Abdullah, David H. Dwight, III (Diana) and Lynda Stewart; devoted cousins, Elder Harry and Janice Webster; a number of other relatives and devoted friends.
