Marilyn Mickins Surcey's Obituary
SURCEY – Mrs. Marilyn Virginia Mickins Surcey passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018. She was a native of Jacksonville, FL, where she received her early education in the local public schools of Duval County, graduating from Stanton High School – Class of 1938. Furthering her education, she received a B.S. degree from Florida A&M College in 1942. Mrs. Surcey was a lifelong member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Jacksonville, where she served as a Missionary and Sunday School Pianist for many years. She was employed by the Duval County Public Schools, having rendered over 33 years dedicated service before retiring. Mrs. Surcey was predeceased by her parents, Grant, II and Fannie Mickins and husband, Wayman P. Surcey. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Angela Surcey Garner (Willie); brother, Grant S. Mickins, III; sisters, Mrs. Mattie B. Henderson and Mrs. Laura M. Lee; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
