Obituary

Minister Gerald Russell King Was born to Willie King and Mrs. Birdell Haynes King April 7, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the local schools and graduated with the Class of "65" from Northwestern Senior High School.  Gerald was drafted in the United States Army in September 1968 for two years, afterward he the Army National Guard Reserve, where he served for twenty-five years and received Honorable Discharge from both.

He me the former Miss Cynthia Dickerson  and the two were united in Holy Matrimony on March 27, 1970.  This union was blessed with six children.

Gerald was employed by the Jacksonville Electric Authority, having rendered over thirty-eight years of dedicated service before retiring in 2007.

In 1981, he became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor E.E. Taylor and was ordained a Deacon, worked in the finance room as well as being an Adult Sunday School Teacher.  In 1989, he moved his membership to St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor H.T. Rhim, where he was also ordained a Deacon, worked in the finance room and was leader of Home Bible Study for the sick and confined.

In 2007, he returned to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under Bishop John E. Guns.  He served as Deacon until answering the call to the ministry in November 2012 and also serving as COC 18 leader and LEGS.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jonathan.

On January 23, 2021, Minister Gerald Russell King went home to be with the Lord.  He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty years and nine months, Mrs. Cynthia B. King; daughters, Akeima King, Eboyne King-Dunham (Nathaniel), Jerilyn King-Williams (Keith) and Ajeunee King; son, Michael King; twin sister, Jeannete Greene; grandchildren, Kylah Dunham, Keith Williams, Jr., Kenadie Dunham and Jasmyn Williams; a number of nieces, nephews, longtime and dear friends, Larry Thomas and Sam Brown; godchildren, Michael Harrell, Edythe Ransom and Aharia Sumlar.
