Edlee Leverly Frasier Simmons, affectionately known as "Kitty" was born on May 15, 1937 to the late James Edward Frasier and Janie Victoria Frasier in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was educated in the Colleton County Public Schools and was a graduate of Colleton County High School Class of 1955.

At the early age of twelve, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Under the leadership of Reverend Bass, Pastor, she became a member of Central CME Church in 1959, where she also sang in the Junior Choir. In 1997, she rejoined Central CME Church. In the Ninth Grade, she met Leroy Simmons. Shortly after graduation, they got married and to their union four children were born. Edlee came to Jacksonville in 1955, stayed for a few months, left, and then came back in 1957. Kitty was a kind, loving person, a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and wife. She loved to listen to gospel music and preaching on tv every night and would often repeat verses from the bible and proceed to pray for herself, her children, her family, and everyone else before she went to sleep.

Mrs. Simmons transitioned to eternal life on Saturday, August 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Gilbert James Simmons; parents; and six siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory two loving sons, Ronald Anthony and Donald Bernard; one loving daughter, Pamela Patricia; three loving grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, and Samuel; six loving great-grandchildren, Terrel Simmons, Tyree Moore, Kierra Simmons, Kierston Simmons, Gianni Simmons, and Cairo Simmons; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
