Ms.Jerrica Michelle
Preston
July 6, 2025
Jerrica Preston, affectionately known as " Big Bird," was born on September 12, 1976, to Willie Harvell and Wanda Preston in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended local schools.
Jerrica was the heart of her family, a devoted mother of six children who poured love, patience and strength into all aspects of her life. Jerrica used her unique discernment, unwavering sense of leadership, compassion, and faith to raise her family and mentor others. Jerrica's home was always open, her table was always full, and her heart and arms always ready to comfort through love, guidance, and support.
Jerrica was a gentle giant but was stern when she needed to be. She was known to have a positive effect on everyone through her smile and joyful energy. Jerrica has been influential in so many lives with her abundance of wisdom. She was a mom, stepmom, and could fill any position that was needed. Simply put, Jerrica was the stability for her family and friends. However, her greatest accomplishment was being an outstanding grandmother to Kaelynn. Kaelynn was her pride, joy, peace: her everything. Jerrica had an endless supply of stories, hugs, and kisses for Kaelynn.
Jerrica worked in the medical field as a caregiver and later became assistant manager for Jefferson Health Care, LLC. She was very protective of the family business and constantly advocating for her patients' care and rights. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kaelynn Marie
Matthews (September 23, 2023).
She leaves to cherish her memory: father, Willie Harvell (Francena); mother, Wanda Preston (Gregory); sons, Kelvin Matthews, Santana Jackson, and Jer'mih Wade known as Doodah; daughters, Kierra Matthews, Latesha Jackson, and Suantana Jackson; brothers, Brian Preston, Teddy Bruster, and Brandon Harvell, Sr.; sisters, Felicia Jefferson, Latorie Preston, Sherrell Harvell,Okevia Grier (Cedric), Latrell Groover, Sebrina Clark, and Bridgett Taylor; loving and devoted grandmother, Ethel Mae Pleas; dear friends: Arneka, Michelle and Sheila; and a host of favorite family
and friends.
