Obituary

Noah Henry Newman, Sr., 87, was born on August 16, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Mrs. Mabel Jackson Newman.  He attended the local public schools of Duval County and was a proud graduate of Stanton Senior High School - Class of 1953.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.

A Vietnam Veteran, Henry enlisted in the United States Army, where he served our country for 20 years before being Honorably Discharged.  He was employed by the United States Postal Service as a Carrier, having rendered over 23 years of dedicated service before retiring.  Furthering his education, he attended Florida Junior College (now Florida State College at Jacksonville), where he attained an Associates of Arts degree.

Henry was a humble and compassionate man who was hard-working, loyal and humorous.

In 1959, Henry was joined in Holy Matrimony to his sweetheart, the former Miss Luvenia Quarterman.  Their lovely union was blessed with two sons, Kevin  and Noah, Jr.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Luvenia Quarterman Newman; brothers, Theodore, Jr., Clarence, Curtis, Harry and Harold; sisters, Claudette, Jean and Jeanette.

On November 15, 2021, Noah Henry Newman, Sr. went home to be with the Lord.  He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Kevin (Sylvia) and Noah, Jr. (Dana); three brothers, Rev. Dr. Cornelius (Gloria), Paul (Catina) and Kenneth (Cile); a loving sister, Vivian; grandchildren, Shaakera, Ernest, Dr. Alisa and Noah, III; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, including his very special nice, Phyllis Gatson (Gerald); a dedicated and loya friend Larry McMillan (Beverly); goddaughter, Tierra Green; and a number of other loving family and friends.
