Mrs. Pearl Corinth Lewis Barnett was born to the late Tillman and Mrs. Maude Bolden Lewis on March 3, 1928, in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her early education in the schools of Duval County, including Boylan Haven School for Girls. She graduated from Stanton Senior High School in 1945. Furthering her education, she earned a bachelor's degree at Florida Memorial College (now University).
Early in life, she accepted Christ and at the time of her demise, she was a member of Historic Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, currently under the pastorate of The Reverend Dr. Victor D. Cole. In 1946, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Maurice Henry Barnett. This union was blessed with three children, Alva, Maurice and Charles.
As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Barnett touched the education of many as a Teacher with the Duval County School Board. For many years, she was a second -grade teacher at John E. Ford, Spring Park, and Mt. Herman Elementary Schools. She retired after rendering over 25 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations included a Bridge club, and many civic and social clubs, including The FlaJills Club. Mrs. Barnett loved family and enjoyed them.
Mrs. Pearl Corinth Lewis Barnett peacefully passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter, Ms. Alva Barnett. She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory, including her sons, Maurice H. Barnett, Jr. (Carolyn) and Charles T. Barnett, Sr. (Mary); grandchildren, Maurice H. Barnett, III (Tiffany), Mrs. Andrea Barnett Taylor (Fred), Charles T. Barnett, Jr., and Mrs. Charlene I. Barnett (CPO Eric Maldonado); 13 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; friend and care- giver, Ms. Margaret McLean; a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.
