Obituary

WADE - Mr. Raymond Wade, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 8, 2019.  A native of Monticello, Florida, he was born to the late Willie Wade and Daisy Collins Wade.  Mr. Wade was one of eight children.  Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Zelma Wade; siblings, Sylvester Wade, Mrs. Alma Jones, Ms. Rachael Wade, Mrs. Willie Mae Davis and Mrs. Mabel Peoples.  Mr. Wade graduated from Howard Academy in Monticello, FL.  He served in the U. S. Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal and was Honorably Discharged in August of 1959.  Upon his completion of service to his country, Mr. Wade moved to Jacksonville, FL, where he became the first African-American Supervisor with the Maxwell House Coffee Company, now known as Kraft-Heinz, where he rendered over 32 years of dedicated service until his retirement.  Mr. Wade was highly regarded in his community and well-liked by his neighbors.  He was a proud member of the Masonic Temple- where he served as a Shriner, the Royal Diplomats, North Florida Kampers, and Broward County Kampers. He was a faithful member of Historic Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent.

Mr. Wade is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Wade; daughters, Mrs. Veronica Wade Taylor (Larry, Sr.) of Houston, TX and Ms. Gaynor Cobb – both from former marriage, and Ms. Madelene Howard; grandchildren, Dr. Larry Taylor, Jr. (Nicole), Mrs. Sheronica Perry (George) – both from former marriage, Eugene Brannon, Ms. Alexandria Howard, Ms. Alexis Howard and Ms. Chante' Howard; 4 great grandchildren (3 of whom are from former marriage); sisters, Mrs. Thelma Lee Canty, of Monticello, FL, Mrs. Catherine Woodson, and Mrs. Annie Maude Plair, of Monticello, FL; aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Collins, of Monticello, FL; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Cobb – from former marriage;  goddaughters,  Mrs. Jenah Bing Wilson (Robert) and Mrs. Andrea Willis (Theodis); special godson, Breshaun Cobb;; devoted friend, Ms. Faye Carter; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
