Brother Richard A. Madison, Jr. (known by family as Rick) was born on March 30, 1971 in Jacksonville, Florida to Rev. Richard A. Madison, Sr. and Mrs. Gail Sneed Madison. Richard's love and devotion for family and friends was evident by his loving ways, he made himself available whenever and however needed! Richard's educational journey started at Whitehouse Elementary. Afterwards he attended St. Pius Catholic School for grades 6-8, Jean Ribault Middle for 9th grade, then he became part of the Viking Nation by attending William Raines High and graduating in 1989. After his high school graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served for 4 years. During his years of service, he obtained several awards and accommodations, including:
•National Defense Service Medal and
•Marksman Rifle Badge
In 1989, Richard met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Felicia Victoria Lewis. On January 23, 1990, Richard and Felicia were married and they continued to support, love and cherish their lives together for 34 years. Their marriage was blessed with two sons: Christopher and Seth. They have 4 grandchildren: Aaralyn, Seth, Jr., Annalise and Amyrah.
After being honorably discharged from the USMC, he continued to pursue and obtain his Associates in Arts Degree from Florida Community College of Jacksonville (1999), a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 2002 from University of North Florida and a Masters of Arts in Education, Administration and Supervision Degree from the University of Phoenix (2008).
During his 23 years as a DCPS Social Studies teacher, Richard has had the privilege of being nominated twice for Teacher of the Year, served as Dean at Charger Academy Middle School, as well as many other administrative and leadership roles. In addition, for the past 10 years he taught Drivers Ed after school.
Brother Richard A. Madison, Jr. leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Felicia Victoria Madison; 2 sons, Christopher R. Madison, Seth J. Madison, Sr. (Teneka); Grandchildren: Aaralyn L. Spates, Seth J. Madison, Jr., Annalise M. Madison and Vidalia A. Madison; Parents Pastor and Mrs. Richard A. Madison, Sr.; Brother Brannen C. Madison (Mary Jo); Aunts: Barbara Madison Brown and Sharon Sneed Wimbley (Robert); Uncles: Rev Bruce V. Sneed (Annette) and Ronald A. Sneed (Lisa) Mother-in-law Elsie Conner; Brother-in-law Willie J. Lewis, Sister-in-law Denise M. Conner; nieces: Brenden R. Madison, Kerrion L. Madison, Taylah C. Madison; nephew Derrick Mathis and a host of cousins and friends.
