Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Johnson Sales was born on May 31, 1933 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late John Henry Johnson and Mrs. Ishmell Rice Johnson.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

Ruth relocated to Jacksonville, where she spent most of her life.

On February 2, 1960, Ms. Ruth Johnson was united in Holy Matrimony to Felton Sales. To this union six children were born.

Mrs. Sales was employed by the Duval County School Board as a Teacher's Aide with Mt. Herman Exceptional School, having rendered over twenty-nine years of dedicated service before retiring.

Other affiliations include being a faithful member of Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Kelly E. Brown, Jr. She served on numerous boards including the Usher Board, the Choir and Nurses Guild. In addition, Mrs. Sales was great asset to her community.

She was predeceased by her husband, Felton Sales; brother, John Johnson, Jr.; sister, Mrs. Irene Bellinger Green and her grandsons, Jonathan DeCosta and Cedric Green.

On March 2, 2021, Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Johnson Sales went home to be with the Lord.  She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Ms. Vivian Moore Griffin, Mrs. Johnnie Mae DeCosta (Elder Hosea), Ms. Barbara Ann Sales Johnson, Mrs. Yvonne Sales Wright (Kelvin), Mrs. Derryll Green (Clarence) and Ms. Cherryll Stallings; grandchildren, Duane Griffin (Misty), Corey Seay (Tasha), Bridget Hill, Ashley Johnson, Joshua DeCosta (Sylvia), Kezia Brown, Torrey Green, Roderick Green (Shene), Bernard Harrison Britton and Derrick Britton.
