Sandra Joyce Smith Sampson was born on February 20, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Charles Sanders Smith, Jr. and Mrs. Erline Grant Smith. She was educated in the Duval County Public School System and graduated from Northwestern Junior-Senior High School with the Class of 1963. She continued her education at Florida A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, graduating with the Class of 1971.

At an early age, Sandra accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, where she remained faithful throughout her life.

Sandra was a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse who devoted her life to caring for others. She was employed by several Jacksonville area hospitals and spent many years working with the Visiting Nurses Association. After more than 30 years of committed and faithful service, she retired in 2003.

Sandra Joyce Smith Sampson peacefully transitioned from this life on Sunday, February 22, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter, Shaunda Sampson Williams; and her sister, Cheryl Smith Miles.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving grandson, Rashaun T. Sampson; her nieces, Trace Miles, Cherae Miles, and Sandra Miles; along with a number of cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever honor and treasure her life and legacy.
