Obituary

Staff Sergeant David Wilson (U.S. Army Ret.), age 99, was born on July 18, 1924 in Jacksonville, Florida to Willie Wilson and Daisy Johnson Wilson. He was educated in Duval County Public Schools. At an early age, he joined the United States Army in 1945. He served in World War II, Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. While serving in World War II, he received the honor of the Victory Medal. He also received the National Defense Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Overseas Service Bars, and Army of Occupation Medal. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army after 27 years of service on May 31, 1972. After retiring from the United States Army, he served 25 years with the Florida Air National Guard Department of Military Affairs.

Mr. Wilson leaves a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by his children: Joyce Gristafson (Donald), Engila Ray, and Davinna Simpson (Toney); stepdaughter, Monzella Hicks (Derrick); grandchildren: Chena Wilson, Louis Guy, Stelisa Guy, Albert Guy, Ahmadriana Ray, Ahmad Ray, Tahari Ray, and Tyrone Ray; great-grandchildren:Jason Guy, Jacob Guy,Princeton Jackson, and Skylar Jackson; sister-In-law: Dorothy Wilson; Godson: Raymond Newkirk; a number of nieces,nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
