Sylvester Porter passed away December 18, 2021.  A native of Gainesville, FL, having resided in Jacksonville most of his life, he attended the local schools, graduating from New Stanton Senior High School – Class of 1959.  Furthering his education, he attended the University of North Florida.  Mr. Porter enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country before being Honorably Discharged.  He was employed by Naval Station Mayport as a Manager, where he rendered over 45 years of dedicated service before retiring. He was predeceased by his parents Willie and Mrs. Vergiree Ross Porter; sister, Willie Mae Porter and brother, Jimmie Porter.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janie P. Porter; children, Tanzy James, Sharon Thompson, Adrian Porter (Nicole), Syleste Porter, Antoinette Bennett, Veronica Holmes and Willie Morrison, Jr.; sisters, Jacqulyn Smith, Joann Telfair, Darsharn Porter and Rosetta Campbell; brothers, Harold Porter (Janice), Rev. Rudolph Porter (Sonya) and Terrance Porter.
