Obituary

BROWN Mr. Taye B. Brown, age 35, of 5709 Earl Cir., N., passed away Thursday, August 14, 2003 in a local hospital. A native of Jacksonville, Florida , he received his early education in Duval County, graduating from Stanton College Preparatory High School Class 1986. Furthering his education, he earned his Associate of Science Degree in Building Construction from University of Florida and his Bachelor of Science in building construction from University of North Florida. In 1994, he became a State of Florida Certified General Contractor and in 1995 Mr. Brown became a State of Florida Registered Mortgage Broker, all in an effort to fulfill his ultimate dream of becoming a Developer. Mr. Brown started his professional career working with his father at W. Brown Designer & Construction, Inc., where he was the V.P. of Operations, Architectural Designer, Engineer & Project Manager. He left to expand his professional experiences and went on to work for Florida Home Loan Corporation where he was a Loan Officer. Later he returned to his passion and joined The Haskell Company where he was a Project Manager, Superintendent and Engineer on numerous projects, including the Baptist Health Care Outpatient Surgical Facility in St. Augustine, FL and the Jacksonville Beach Redevelopment Project. Taye left Jacksonville and was charged with the responsibility of being the Field Project Manager with H.J. Russell in Atlanta, GA. He was also involved in the construction of The UPS Mechanized Airmail Distribution facility, Phillips Arena and later was assigned to Dallas, TX where he was involved as Project Manager in the construction of the American Airlines Center and the Ross Perot Hockey Stadium. Mr. Brown returned to Jacksonville in 2001 and joined the Better Jacksonville Project (BJP) Team as the Project Manager assigned to oversee the Arena and later moved on to oversee the Equestrian Center & Sports Complex at Cecil Commerce Center. Other affiliation include Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., American Public Works Assoc., Paradise Dream Investment Club, First Coast African Chamber of Commerce and Carver International Neighborhood Association. He attended Westside Church of Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Hazel A Brown; father, Willie L Bill Brown , Jr.; sister, Mrs. Tanya Brown Norenberg (James); niece, Olivia Norenberg; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Ella Brown; a number of aunts , uncles cousins other relatives and caring friends. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2003 in Westside Church of Christ, Brother Willie " Pete" Jackson, II, officiating. Mr. Brown will rest in the mortuary for visitation from 5 PM until 7 PM Friday (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM) and Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service. Fraternal Rites will be at 7 PM, Friday in the mortuary. Those desiring to may make memorials in Mr. Browns Memory to Taye B. Brown Memorial Trust Fund , 5709 Earl Circle, N., Jax. FL, 32219. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at the residence under the direction of ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, INC. 4409 Soutel Dr. (766-9671).
