Mrs. Virginia Anita Taylor Williams Scott, a member of a pioneer and well-known Jacksonville Family, was born February 2, 1924 to the late Porcher L. Taylor, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Virginia Bell Taylor in Jacksonville, Florida. Her father was the Founder and Owner of the Florida Tattler Newspaper and Taylor and Son Printing Company. Mrs. Scott, the oldest child, along with siblings Porcher Taylor, Jr., and Betty Taylor Belton and their parents made up the Taylor household. Attending local schools of Duval County, Mrs. Scott was a student of Boylan-Haven School for Girls, also a graduate of Stanton Senior High School-Class of 1942. Furthering her education, she attended Florida A & M University.
Later, she earned certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Duval Vocational. For many years, Mrs. Scott was employed in the Healthcare Industry. Most recently, she was employed by St. Catherine Laboure Manor as a Nurse until retiring after rendering over 13 years of dedicate service.
Mrs. Scott was a lifetime communicant of St. Philips Episcopal Church. She loved her church and church family. As a supporting and active member of her church, affiliations include Episcopal Church Women, the Bishop Delaney Guild, EYC-Senior Citizens Ministry, Wednesdays Feeding the Homeless, and Mother of the Church. Numerous other affiations including, Live Long and Like It Seniors Club.
A beautiful chapter in our lives came to a close Saturday, June 4, 2022, when Mrs. Virginia Anita Taylor Williams Scott went to join our Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose builder and maker is God. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and niece, Nolani Taylor. Left to cherish her memory are her two loving sons, Cecil L. Williams, Jr.(Gwendolyn) and Andre' L. Williams, Sr.(Eileen); grandchildren, Andre' L. Williams, Jr.(Ana), Tari P. Radford(Eric), Cory L. Williams(Tameka); great grandchildren, Taylor Williams Kelly, Tyra Rhodes, Isreal L. Williams, Isabelle Lucy Williams, Elliana Williams, Graceanna Williams and Andre J. Williams; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Porcher L. Taylor, Jr.(Ann); nephews, C. Ronald Belton(Gloria) and Porcher L. Taylor,III(April); nieces, Jacquelyn Fleming, Vernita Taylor, Brenda Waters, Cheryl Taylor, Angela Butler(Harold); brother-in-law, Clarence Belton; loving and caring cousins, Corlette Bell, Theodore Norman(Joan), George Norman, Harriett Reid(Marvin), Benjamin Norman(Millicent), Lydia Williams(Dale), Donna Jean Jackson(Emory), Gary Norman(Andrea), Wayne Norman(Deborah), and Wendell Norman(Tasha); a number of grandnephews, grandnieces, other cousins, other relatives and many loving friends.
