Obituary

Mr. Zebedee Shoemake passed away peacefully June 30, 2022. He was a native of Camden, AL.,
and a graduate of Camden Academy High School. He furthered his education at Alabama State
University and graduated from Dale Carnegie Training. Mr. Shoemake was a loyal member of
Ebenezer United Methodist Church, having served with the Methodist Men and as a member of
the Trustee Board. His career spanned employment with Afro-American Life Insurance
Company, retirement as a District Supervisor from Jax Liquors, Inc, and working for enjoyment
at Scotty's. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Louise Shoemake; his mother, Willie
Mae Jones; his father, Reuben Williams; his brothers, Clyde, James, and Jewel Shoemake; and
his stepsisters, Roberta Lawrence, Katherine Sampson, and Pearline McClendon . Survivors
include his children, Tina Williams, Shelia Cummings, Lawrence Shoemake (Judy), James
Shoemake, and Dr. Deirdre Shoemake; sister, Rev. Nellie Hardison, grandchildren, Anthony
Dempsey, II, James Shoemake, Alexis Cummings, and Jonathan Shoemake; great grandchildren,
Anthony Dempsey, III, Shayla Fletcher, Dominick Munch, Jada Shoemake, Imani Shoemake,
Kayden Shoemake, and Zoe Shoemake; godson Terrell Cowser, and a host of loving relatives
and friends.
