Obituary

WADE Mrs. Zelma Carrier Wade, a well known educator, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, June 1, 2008. Mrs. Wade was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, where she received her early education in the local public schools, graduating from Stanton Senior High School-Class of 1951. Furthering her education, she earned the Bachelor's degree at Bethune-Cookman College and a Master of Education degree at Florida A&M University. As one of Duval County's Outstanding Educators, Mrs. Wade was employed with Duval County School Board as a Teacher until she retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Other affiliations include member of Bethune-Cookman Alumni Association. She was a faithful member of Historic Mt. Zion AME Church. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Wade; mother, Mrs. Mildred B. Carrier; daughters, Mrs. Veronica Taylor (Larry) and Ms. Gaynor Cobb; grandson, Dr. Larry Taylor, Jr. (Nicole); granddaughter, Ms. Sheronica Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Cobb; a number of other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 6, 2008 in Historic Mt. Zion AME Church, Rev. Frederick Richardson, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Wade will rest in the mortuary for visitation THURSDAY from 5 PM until 8 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM) and Friday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 1506 W. 25th St. under the direction of ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, INC., 4409 Soutel Dr. 904-766-9671.
